Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Northeastern New York and The Helen M. Upton Center for Women’s Studies and the Office of Student Life at The Sage Colleges present a screening of:
“Girl Rising” tells the inspiring story of nine girls from around the globe who demonstrate tremendous strength and courage in their quest to participate and access an education. As the film rightly states, One Girl with Courage is a Revolution.
THE CALL TO ACTION:
Prior to film viewing, there will be a panel of 3-5 local organizations. Representatives will speak to the messages in the film and talk about how ordinary citizens can get involved, volunteer and be ambassadors of change in their communities. Panelists will give background on their organizations, how they are working towards women and girls’ education, economic opportunity and/or empowerment and ways in which people may get involved (volunteering, advocacy, etc.).
